Great Crested Grebes - MCP

The light was better than I had anticipated this morning and with an increasing number of birds heralding Spring with bird song, Milton Country Park came to the top of the list.   There were Kingfishers to be heard but only rarely seen, and for the first time I heard Great Crested Grebes calling - not sonorous but who am I to say?   Although the full courtship display of the Grebes wasn't seen, it looks promising that these two will pair up this year.   The light on the water when there was just one Grebe showed off its plummage well.

Really does make one feel that spring is upon us.

Did you have to wait very patiently for a long time to get both birds displaying?

Not that long and what I should love to see, for just the second time in my life, is a fuller courtship display when the birds are almost out of the water in their posturing. There is plenty of birdsong from Passerines (if that's the right word) at MCP, confirming meterologically Spring has arrived.
