Early Mornings

The early morning light in the autumn is full of rich colour.   Once the sun has risen and revealed the mist, the colour of one light on the narrow boat is very homely and inviting.   The Cormorants are just comical and make me smile!

It's interesting how the colour of the skies is from the same palette as autumn leaves. And within it the reassuring certainty that the sun is rising to breathe life back into the earth. Good example of the adage that if you want the photograph you have to be out there to get it.
The cormorants are nicely caught - guess they don't see the difference between a roof and a granite pinnacle on the Cornish coast. A distinctly snooty tilt to their heads.

I am finding the range of colours in the sky in the mornings just as exciting as in previous years and I hadn't thought of these autumn skies using the same colour palette as autumn leaves - thanks for mentioning that.

This morning I saw a Cormorant catch quite the largest fish I've seen come out of The Cam. One rarely sees a Cormorant with food in its mouth - the assumption being it is probably catching and eating underwater. On this occasion, at Bottisham Lock, it just had to come up for air before the whole thing was swallowed. It didn't take off that promptly either!
