Autumn Colours and The Cam

Couldn't resist going somewhere 'watery' this morning as it was such a lovely, bright start to the day and there is still a good range of autumn colours to be seen.

The dogs and I went to The Cam near Clayhithe Bridge and wandered upstream.   The sun was shining through trees showing autumn colour, someone was either enjoying a run alongside The Cam or running to work, and the metal garden chairs are what is left of summer times when it was warm and dry enough to enjoy chatter out in the garden.

I'm not sure what startled these Little Grebes (aka Dab Chicks) but they both took off at great speed.
There is usually at least one Cormorant at the top of a particular tree and it didn't disappoint today.   Given that they need to hold their wings out to dry because of not having oils to put onto their feathers when preening, this one will be there for a long time given how long, if at all, washing takes to dry outside these days!
