Over the years an increasing number of Black Squirrels have been visiting the garden and I'm pretty sure they have bred in the garden too. There is no love lost between the Black and the Grey Squirrels either.

Christmas Day, Ely
A few of us decided to have a walk in an Ely park on Christmas afternoon since a number of plans to meet family members that day had been changed because of Covid 19.
The evening sunlight on the Cathedral got more intense as the hour passed.
The sunset on the way home was magical and stopping to catch the colours from a lay-by evoked memories of having done that in the past.
Bottisham Lock
A lot has happened since I last posted an image! The most significant for me has been having a full hip replacement and as recovery is going well one of my first 'proper' walks was to Bottisham Lock. It was great being able to drive again and to want to go for a walk!
This image captures a lot of what I've missed: the 'wateryness' of The Fens and the bluey/green colour palette. It seemed rather ambitious to take a DSLR camera on the first walk, so I missed photographs of Fieldfare. Will just have to return, despite the muddiness.

Welney Wetlands Trust
It had been a long time since I'd been to Welney and not that much of the reserve was accessible because of the high water level. I met a friend there and there were several of us allowed in the main hide only. I was surprised how few Whooper Swans were on the lagoon - just 7. Having been to Iceland three times in the winter, the thought does just occur as to whether any of the Whoopers I'd seen in Reykjavik had ever flown to Welney. Plenty of preening going on after that sort of long haul flight! And the cafe was open............

Eucalyptus Tree - reduced in size
This is a bit of tree surgery I have been waiting on for quite a while, and when it came to it, I hadn't anticipated just how much additional light would shine into the kitchen. It's wonderful! Because Eucalyptus will regrow from the trunk, this time it will be kept under control and not be allowed to threaten the house any more.
